Real Madrid and Arsenal in Race for Martin Zubimendi
Real Madrid has reportedly moved ahead of Arsenal in the competition to sign
Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi during the upcoming summer
transfer window. According to reports, the Spanish giants have identified
the Spain international as a key target for strengthening their midfield.
As Toni Kroos retired last year and Luka Modric’s contract is expiring, Real
Madrid are in need of a new defensive midfielder.
However, Arsenal will provide strong competition for Zubimendi’s signature.
The Gunners are expected to lose both Jorginho and Thomas Partey in the
summer, creating a void in their midfield. While Declan Rice has excelled in a
more advanced role, Arsenal require a specialist number six.
The decision may ultimately come down to Zubimendi’s personal preference,
as both clubs can offer Champions League football and are competing for major
trophies. Interestingly, Real Madrid and Arsenal are also set to clash in
the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League this season.
Martin Zubimendi, aged 26, has considerable experience with 226 appearances
for Real Sociedad across all competitions. He has also contributed with 10
goals and nine assists. His contract runs until 2027, and his estimated
market value is around €60 million. Real Sociedad may be willing to sell
to secure a significant transfer fee this summer.
Bukayo Saka Injury Update Ahead of Champions League Clash
Arsenal fans have received an update on Bukayo Saka’s fitness ahead of their
crucial UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg against Real Madrid. David
Ornstein, a reliable football journalist, provided the latest news on the
Gunners’ star winger.
The highly anticipated first leg is scheduled at the Emirates Stadium on
April 8, with the return leg in Madrid on April 16. Concerning Saka’s
availability, Ornstein stated:
“As reported, Arsenal are hopeful Saka will be fit. This timeline aligns with
his recovery after surgery. However, the club will prioritize his long-term
fitness and avoid rushing his return.”
Bukayo Saka has been sidelined since late December due to a hamstring injury,
causing him to miss 20 games across all competitions. Despite this setback,
he has been in outstanding form this season, contributing nine goals and 13
assists in 24 appearances when fit.
Will Zubimendi choose Real Madrid or Arsenal? Can Saka recover in time?
